Filipino Community honors the Blessed Virgin Mary through “Santacruzan”

St. Raphael-Holy Angels is a welcoming, multicultural community. A vibrant part of our parish life is our Filipino community. The community gathers for liturgical and cultural events throughout the year. The group is connected with a network of other Filipino groups throughout the Diocese of Trenton.

St Raphael’s Rosary Walk Garden

One of their initiatives is this serene spot, the Rosary Walk Garden located near the Pope John Paul II Spiritual Center.  It was dedicated in October 30, 2016 and quickly became a popular place for those seeking an outdoor haven to pray.  The Filipino Community spearheaded the fundraising drive to create a place of rest and prayer for all in the parish, a place to gather and venerate the Blessed Mother that also beautified the grounds.  They decided on a design which focused on the Cross and the Blessed Mother, reflecting the wish of Father John Chang, the previous pastor.

Rachel Baisas-Janolo designed the garden on behalf of the Filipino Community.  Constructed in a manner that reflects the decades of the Rosary, there are five garden areas framed with arches and greenery including climbing wisteria vines which will add shade to the area.
